Director's Message
Thank you for your interest in the Parkersburg Day Nursery. Each member of the Day Nursery team takes on the task of teaching and caring for children with responsibility. We provide a commitment to a safe, nurturing environment in which children can grow. As a non-profit organization, we have been operating on the following mission for almost a century: “We will strive to promote a child’s physical, mental, emotional and social growth within a caring environment”.
As an early learning center, our programs are developmentally age-appropriate, guided by skilled teachers in a nurturing environment. The learning process is enhanced by age-appropriate learning materials and a curriculum designed to promote learning by using a combination of free play and structured activities as well as independent and teacher directed activities. In addition, we have a state of the art playground with play equipment on a safe rubberized surface. Through this combination of free play, structured and teacher directed activities, and repeated opportunities for decision-making, we strive to have children leave here with a positive attitude toward school for years to come.
The Parkersburg Day Nursery is a licensed childcare center required to meet all standards set forth by the State of West Virginia for Day Care Centers. The license is contingent upon meeting the standards set forth by the State Fire Marshall, The State Health Department, and the State Board of Nutrition. We also participate in the Child and Adult Care Food Program, a Federal program that provides healthy meals and snacks for children receiving day care. We do not take these regulations lightly. A copy of these regulations is available for review at all times.
Parkersburg Day Nursery believes in strong, open communication with our parents. We encourage parents to stop by the center at anytime when his/her child is present, and participate in the Parent Advisory Committee which meets four times a year, and complete the Parent Feedback Forms. We hope through sharing information you will understand our goals and become familiar with our history, policies and mission.
It is our policy to provide an environment free from unlawful discrimination of any type. In accordance with Federal and State Laws, this institution is prohibited from discriminating on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, economic status, or any other characteristics protected by law. In addition, harassment of any kind toward any child, parent, teacher, or visitor will not be tolerated.
We look forward to meeting you, please call today for an appointment to come and visit our center.
Sincerely,
Karen Puccio, Director
